starting back meditating yesterday and man having a hard time getting back in a deep state. I heard to just let my mind roam but I’m having a hard time clearing my head … any tips
When I have a hard time, I don't focus on the fact that I'm actually meditating as it sometimes causes unnecessary stress in the process. Get in a comfortable, safe place, relax, enjoy the peace. While your eyes are closed use them to search within you. Similar to a feeling of searching and feeling your way through the darkness, eventually you should start seeing circles of different colors feeding your mind. That's what works for me. I saw something like a colorful butterfly yesterday when I was mediating but it lasted for literally a sec. I used to see stuff ( colorful things ) much longer.
I agree with what God said focus on breathing and everything else will fall into place. You can also mentally picture your whole body relaxing deeper and deeper. Start from your forehead down to your eyes, nose etc all the way down to your feet. Focusing and relaxing all of your body parts as much as possible. That helps me clear my thoughts. How good are you at blocking things out? I'm more focused, the more I'm distracted. I tap into the "ADD" bs they diagnosed me with(lol). I also have several locations I focus on. The details of the location help me keep my focus.Hope this helps.

I was ok a few months ago but I been slacking but I feel more aware if that makes sense
I get it.I felt myself doing the same. So I add levels to help increase the focus.The best example of this is, the movie, inception. Something like that is how I increase my focus.
